Demoscene

2024-11-16

The demoscene is an international computer art subculture focused on producing demos: self-contained, sometimes extremely small, computer programs that produce audiovisual presentations. Here’s a link to my profile on Demozoo

I’ve been involved in the demoscene since the late 90s. I’ve been to a few demoparties (last time in 2012… years ago) and made a few productions. Mostly small ones for the old golden 8-bit ZX Spectrum. I still contribute to the demoscene in my free time, as a hobby. Here’s a brief list of my productions, grouped by the demo groups I released material in:

JOKER (ZX Spectrum, GameBoy Color, MicroW8)

The Joker group is the one I’m actively involved in. Sometimes I manage to code an intro, usually 256 bytes (or smaller). Just for fun. Created mainly for the ZX Spectrum computer.

DUAL CREW - SHINING (GameBoy Color)

Cenotaph - demo for GameBoy Color console was released at Revision demoparty in 2012 (Saarbruecken, Germany). It took 4th place in ‘Oldksool Demo Competition’. I coded most of the parts and put everything together. Later that year (2012) I also made a small intro - invitation to Retrogathering party.

TEAM POKEME (Pokémon Mini)

In 2005, together with a group of friends we made a demo (I coded some of the effects) for the obscure Pokémon mini handheld console. The Shizzle demo won first place in the ‘Console / Real Wild’ category at the demoparty Breakpoint 2005 in Bingen (Germany).

PULSE (PC)

The first big production I took part in. Part of the 3D graphics (lowpoly) was made by me. Balance won the PC demo compo at the Gravity demoparty in 1996 in Opole (Poland)

INDEPENDENT (ZX Spectrum, Wonderswan, GameBoy Color)

Aaaaand - the rest of the stuff that can’t be classified.
