Space Kitty

ToyToy2 is the working title of a retro style top-view platformer game currently being developed for the Game Boy ( Color ).
Originally planned as a direct sequel to ToyToy, the project has evolved into a standalone game, expanding on the mechanics, visual style, and overall design of the original game.
The game features:
- Classic 8-bit pixelart graphics
- Custom-built level editor and tools
- Original chiptune soundtrack
‘Space Kitty’ (working title) is just me messing around with old-school handheld gear, trying to do something cool without losing that retro vibe.
‘Space Kitty’ (working title) is a personal project focused on pushing the creative limits of classic handheld hardware while staying true to its nostalgic charm.
This time, I decided to write the game from scratch, without using any piece of code of my previous projects.
Below are a few screenshots from the current, very early version of the game. I’m testing interactions with enemies on a playground. In the current test build, I’m using temporary DMG graphics borrowed from my another project:
